Islamabad Sealed with Containers as PTI Protest Looms

Federal authorities have announced the sealing of 24 key locations in Islamabad and a heavy police deployment ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned protest at D-Chowk on November 24.

All entry and exit points to the city, including the Red Zone, will be blocked using containers. The Islamabad Transport Authority has ordered the closure of all transport terminals from 8:00 PM, instructing the sealing of bus stations with tents.

Authorities are placing containers on major roads to prevent access to protest sites. Key locations include:

    • Murree Road
    • Rawat’s T Chowk
    • Faizabad to Islamabad routes
    • Chungi No. 26
    • Srinagar Highway
    • New Margalla Road
    • Iran Avenue

Additional checkpoints will be set up at Sector I-8, IJP Double Road, Margalla Road, Sangjani, Sector G-11 Chowk, and Golra Mor Flyover and Underpass.

Officials have also prepared for a complete lockdown of the Red Zone if tensions rise. Over 2,200 containers have been moved into the city, and additional security personnel have been deployed.

    Restrictions and Service Suspensions
Section 144, prohibiting public gatherings and protests, has been imposed in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The federal government plans to partially suspend internet and mobile phone services on Sunday in Islamabad, parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and several districts of Punjab.

These measures aim to control the situation and minimize disruption during PTI’s “do-or-die” protest.
