Popular YouTuber MrBeast is rapidly losing subscribers due to recent controversies. The decline started when old videos resurfaced showing him using inappropriate language. Soon after, allegations emerged that one of his employees sent inappropriate messages to minors. The most considerable backlash came when it was revealed that MrBeast hired Matthew Hiltzik, a crisis management expert linked to Harvey Weinstein.
MrBeast, whose real name is James Stephen “Jimmy” Donaldson, is known for his high-budget videos and philanthropy. He owns YouTube’s most subscribed channel.
The situation worsened when fellow YouTuber Rosanna Pansino accused MrBeast of faking challenge videos. She claimed participants were mistreated, and his videos were manipulated. Pansino criticized MrBeast for hiring Hiltzik, viewing it as an attempt to protect his image rather than address the issues.
Hiltzik, who started his PR career at Weinstein’s Miramax, now works with high-profile clients in entertainment and politics. Pansino saw his involvement as a way to control the narrative rather than solve the problems.
Due to these controversies, MrBeast’s channel, which once had 300 million subscribers, is losing viewers, subscribers, and revenue. His channel saw 153 million fewer views this month and gained 12 million fewer subscribers than the previous month. This decline has reportedly cost him nearly $700,000 in revenue.
