The United Arab Emirates is set to revolutionize its justice system by introducing a fully digital, lawyer-free courtroom powered by artificial intelligence. The Ministry of Justice revealed the concept at GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai, showcasing how future court proceedings will be completely paperless, document-free, and automated.
Imagine entering a courthouse without paperwork, queues, or long waits. Instead, facial recognition grants instant access, while an intelligent digital lawyer presents your case. Visitors at the event experienced this vision through an interactive simulation called the “Court of the Future,” part of the Ministry’s broader “Smart Justice” initiative.
The system allows users to digitally access case files, appoint lawyers, and schedule hearings in minutes. Appointing a lawyer takes less than one minute, offering two choices: hire a real lawyer from an interactive directory or select an AI-powered virtual attorney that prepares legal documents, gathers evidence, and represents clients before the court.
The judge’s bench will also operate digitally. A smart platform will automatically compile case data, documents, and evidence, generating a draft judgment that the judge can review, edit, or finalize independently.
This initiative highlights the UAE’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and accessibility in the justice sector, aligning with its vision of delivering “Innovative Digital Justice in Service of Humanity.
