    Sri Lanka beat India by 8 wickets to lift Women’s Asia Cup

    Sri Lanka made history by winning their first-ever Women’s Asia Cup, defeating seven-time champions India by eight wickets.

    Chasing a target of 166, Sri Lanka’s captain Chamari Athapaththu led the charge with a quick 43-ball 61. Harshitha Samarawickrama followed with an unbeaten 65 off 51 balls, guiding Sri Lanka to their maiden Asia Cup victory.

    Sri Lanka chased the target in 18.4 overs with eight balls to spare. Chamari Athapaththu played a brilliant innings, scoring 63 runs. Deepti Sharma took one wicket for India.

    India won the toss and batted first, scoring 165 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Smriti Mandhana scored 60 off 47 balls, and Richa Ghosh added 30 off 14 deliveries. Kavisha Dilhari took two wickets for Sri Lanka, while Sachini Nisansala and Chamari Athapaththu each took one.

    India has won the T20 Asia Cup three out of four times and the ODI edition four times.
