South Africa T20I squad reaches Rawalpindi ahead of Pakistan series

RAWALPINDI, October 22, 2025 — South Africa’s T20I squad has landed in Pakistan ahead of their white-ball series against the hosts. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the team’s arrival through a video shared on its official social media channels, showing Proteas players checking into their hotel in Rawalpindi.

However, the visiting team faces a setback as two key players — David Miller and Gerald Coetzee — have been ruled out due to injuries.

According to Cricket South Africa (CSA), Miller, who was set to captain the T20I side, suffered a grade-one right hamstring strain. Medical scans earlier this week confirmed the injury, forcing him to withdraw from the tour.

Meanwhile, pacer Gerald Coetzee sustained a pectoral muscle injury during South Africa’s recent T20I against Namibia, ruling him out of both the ODI and T20I series.

In response, CSA made several squad adjustments. Matthew Breetzke and uncapped batter Tony de Zorzi joined the T20I lineup, while Donovan Ferreira will lead the side in Miller’s absence. Ottneil Baartman replaced Coetzee in the ODI squad.

After the series opener in Rawalpindi, the teams will move to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium for the second and third T20Is on October 31 and November 1. The ODI series will follow in Faisalabad from November 4 to 8 — marking the city’s first international match in over 17 years. Faisalabad last hosted an ODI on April 11, 2008, when Pakistan beat Bangladesh by seven wickets.
