South Africa Beat Pakistan to Draw Test Series

RAWALPINDI, October 22, 2025 — South Africa leveled the two-match Test series against Pakistan after clinching a dominant win in the second Test at Rawalpindi. Off-spinner Simon Harmer starred with a brilliant 6-50, taking his 1,000th first-class wicket and guiding his side to victory on a turning pitch.

Chasing just 68 runs, South Africa comfortably reached the target for the loss of captain Aiden Markram (42) and Tristan Stubbs (0), both dismissed by Pakistan’s Noman Ali, who finished with 2-40. Ryan Rickelton remained unbeaten on 25, sealing the win with a six before lunch.

Pakistan’s batting collapse continued on the fourth morning as they added only 44 runs after resuming at 94-4. Harmer ended Pakistan’s hopes early by trapping Babar Azam leg-before for 51, denying him his first century since December 2022. Soon after, he removed Mohammad Rizwan (18) and Noman Ali (0) to reach his milestone wicket.

Harmer became the fourth South African to take over 1,000 first-class wickets, joining legends Mike Procter, Allan Donald, and Charlie Llewellyn. His figures eclipsed his previous best of 4-51 from the Lahore Test.

Pakistan’s tail faltered again, losing their last five wickets for just 33 runs. Keshav Maharaj added to the damage with 2-34, complementing his 7-102 in the first innings.

With the victory, South Africa drew the series

, keeping their World Test Championship campaign on track and exposing Pakistan’s ongoing batting struggles in home conditions.
