Veteran cricketer and former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi warmly welcomed his first grandchild, Aliyaar Afridi, at his home. Aliyaar is the son of Afridi’s daughter Ansha and Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi.
On Monday night, Shahid Afridi shared the first video with his newborn grandson on Instagram, celebrating the baby’s arrival with a grand welcome. The video, which quickly went viral, shows Afridi holding his grandson while two of his daughters eagerly meet their new nephew.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, the left-arm fast bowler of the Pakistan cricket team, and Ansha, Afridi’s second-eldest daughter, got engaged in 2021 and married last year. The couple was blessed with their first child on Saturday, as announced by the family.
On Monday, the new father, Shaheen, posted the first picture of his newborn son on Instagram, along with a heartfelt message welcoming his baby boy.
Shahid Afridi, now the youngest grandfather in the cricketing world, celebrated his grandson’s arrival and thanked everyone for their warm wishes. “Receiving lovely messages from all of you on becoming the youngest grandfather in cricket. My family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for joining in our celebrations,” he wrote on social media.
