Shaheen Afridi Regains Top Spot in ICC Bowler Rankings

Pakistani cricketer Shaheen Afridi has reclaimed the No. 1 position in the ICC Men’s ODI Bowler Rankings, a significant achievement ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Afridi’s rise to the top comes after his exceptional performance against Australia, where he took eight wickets at an impressive average of 12.62 across three matches. This effort helped him surpass South African spinner Keshav Maharaj, who has dropped to third, while Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan remains in second.

Along with Afridi’s success, several other players from different countries have made notable progress in various formats. In the ODI batting rankings, Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan moved up to 23rd after strong performances against Australia, sharing this position with Bangladesh’s captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.

In ODI bowling, West Indies’ Gudakesh Motie rose to 14th, and Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz jumped to 23rd.

In the T20I rankings, England’s Phil Salt climbed to second among batters, with teammates Jos Buttler and Nicholas Pooran also improving their rankings. In T20I bowling, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga advanced to second place, while West Indies’ Akeal Hosein and India’s Ravi Bishnoi made it into the top 10.

Afridi had also held the No. 1 spot in the ICC ODI Bowling Rankings in 2023.
