Rana Sanaullah, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Political Affairs, criticized former US President Donald Trump and PTI founder Imran Khan, calling them “liars” who frequently attack institutions.
In an appearance on ARY News’ program “Khabar Muhammad Malick Ke Saath,” Rana Sanaullah remarked that both Trump and Imran Khan are known for spreading false information, mocking others, and undermining institutions. He pointed out similarities between the two leaders, noting that both resort to tactics like gathering supporters and making baseless claims to achieve their goals.
Rana Sanaullah mentioned that Donald Trump gathered his supporters to storm the Capitol in Washington, implying a similarity to Imran Khan’s confrontational approach in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz offered diplomatic congratulations to Trump on his election, which Rana Sanaullah downplayed as “a mere formality.”
When asked about the possibility of Imran Khan being released at the US’s request, Rana Sanaullah dismissed it, saying he doesn’t believe the US government would intervene in this matter. Jokingly, he added that if Trump wanted, Imran Khan could be exchanged for the release of Aafia Siddiqui, suggesting that many in Pakistan would agree to it.
