Rain Expected in Lahore, Bringing Relief from Smog

Lahore is likely to get much-needed rain, which could bring relief from the ongoing smog in parts of Punjab on Sunday night and Monday, says the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Currently, continental air is covering most of Pakistan, while a westerly wave is affecting the country’s upper regions and is expected to grow stronger tonight.

As a result, most areas in Punjab are expected to experience dry weather on Sunday night and Monday. However, rain with wind and thunderstorms may hit the Potohar region on Sunday night, including areas like Attock, Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, and nearby locations.

On Monday, isolated rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected in Attock, Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Lahore. Although these showers might be scattered and light, they should help reduce smog levels in some areas.

In Lahore, the minimum temperature is expected to be between 17-19°C on Monday and 16-18°C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, smog continues to impact areas like Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Narowal, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Fog patches are also present in areas like Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Khanewal, Khanpur, Jhang, Bahawalpur, Layyah, Multan, and Dera Ghazi Khan, with some places experiencing dense fog at night.
