Rahul Gandhi Recites Darood Sharif During Lok Sabha Session

On Monday, Rahul Gandhi, a Congress member and Opposition Leader in Lok Sabha, quoted the Holy Quran and recited Darood Sharif upon Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during an assembly session.

Rahul Gandhi stated, “It is written in the [Holy] Quran that Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him said, ‘God said have no fear [for] I am with you, hearing and seeing’.” He made these remarks while criticizing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for spreading hatred, fear, and violence.

Gandhi emphasized that BJP leaders promote hatred despite claiming to be Hindus, which he argued is not in line with the true essence of the religion. He stressed that all great personalities have advocated for non-violence and eliminating fear.

Modi and his party were not pleased with Gandhi’s comments, leading the Prime Minister to demand an apology. Modi stated that labelling the entire Hindu society as “violent” is a severe accusation.

In response, Gandhi clarified, “No, no […] Modi, the BJP, and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) do not represent the entire Hindu society.”

During his speech, Gandhi also referenced other religions, such as Sikhism, Christianity, Buddhism, and Jainism, to highlight the universal importance of fearlessness, as reported by India Today.

Gandhi’s remarks sparked a strong reaction from the BJP members, who responded by shouting slogans on the assembly floor.
