Rabiul Awwal Moon Not Sighted, Eid-i-Miladun Nabi on September 17

On Wednesday, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced that the Rabiul Awwal moon was not sighted so that the Islamic month will start on September 6 (Friday). This means Eid-i-Miladun Nabi will be observed on September 17.

The announcement came after a meeting in Islamabad led by Chairman Abdul Khabeer Azad, with religious scholars and weather experts in attendance. Chairman Azad confirmed during a press conference that no reports of the moon sighting were received. As a result, it was unanimously decided that the first of Rabiul Awwal will begin on September 6, with Eid-i-Miladun Nabi falling on Tuesday, September 17.

He emphasized that the committee’s decisions are based on visual testimonies and Islamic law, although moon sighting can be challenging when it’s cloudy.

Muslims worldwide celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, known as Mawlid al-Nabawi, observed in the 3rd month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
