The Punjab government has announced a major recruitment drive to hire 30,000 new teachers this summer to address the province’s teacher shortage.
According to an official from the Punjab Education Department, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz tasked the Punjab education minister with this recruitment initiative. The goal is to improve the quality of education by overcoming the current teacher deficit.
This recruitment process, taking place after seven years, will be conducted through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) in phases. Sources indicate that the recruitment is expected to be completed during the summer vacation 2024.
Earlier in March, the Sindh Education Department hired thousands of primary school teachers to tackle their teacher shortage. The department planned to recruit 15,380 primary school teachers, with the HR Wing of the School Education Department making all necessary arrangements.
The Punjab government’s commitment to education is evident through this large-scale recruitment, aiming to ensure that every classroom is adequately staffed and students receive quality education.
