ISLAMABAD: According to ARY News, Islamabad’s Duty Magistrate has approved a one-day physical remand for Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, the sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan.
The two sisters appeared before Duty Magistrate Azhar Nadeem concerning a case registered at Kohsar Police Station. The police had requested a 20-day physical remand, but the court only granted a one-day remand.
Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, and Adnan Qaiser (brother of PTI leader Asad Qaiser) will be presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) tomorrow. Adnan was also granted a one-day physical remand. In addition, nine other women were sent to jail under judicial remand.
Yesterday, Islamabad police arrested several PTI activists, including Imran Khan’s sisters, as they tried to reach D-Chowk for a protest. Aleema and Uzma Khan were detained at D-Chowk when they joined party workers for the demonstration. Both were taken to the secretariat police station.
Several PTI supporters were also arrested and transferred to the police station. Police and protestors clashed as the law enforcers used tear gas, and protestors retaliated by throwing stones.
