Premium Number Plate Fetches Rs100m at Auction

The Excise Department of Sindh auctioned off the premium number plate (A 1) for a staggering Rs100 million. Muzammil Kareem placed the highest bid and secured the number plate for Rs100 million. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon awarded the ownership certificate to Mazhar Kareem.

Another premium number plate, 786, fetched Rs26.5 million at the auction. Sarosh, a businessman, placed the winning bid and received the ownership certificate from Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.
The auction, held at a local hotel, attracted significant attention.

Addressing the ceremony, Senior Minister of Excise, Taxation, and Information Sindh, Sharjeel Inam Memon, expressed gratitude to the participants. He emphasized the noble cause behind the event, drawing parallels to similar auctions in the United Arab Emirates, where funds are used for charity. Memon highlighted that premium number plates are an investment, much like gold, and can be resold.

Senior Minister Memon stated that the funds raised from the auction will be used to build houses for flood victims. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari directed the Chief Minister to ensure that these homes are constructed and ownership rights are granted to women. Memon added that according to Chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s vision, the houses for flood victims will also be solarized. He assured that these funds would benefit low-income people and not go to waste.

This auction demonstrates the Excise Department’s commitment to using innovative methods to raise funds for charitable causes, ensuring that every contribution makes a meaningful impact on the community.
