Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced that its offices in Islamabad will be closed for three days due to the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in the city.
According to a circular issued by PIA, the offices will remain closed from October 14 to October 16.
This closure is part of security measures to ensure the smooth running of the international conference.
Pakistan will host the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad on October 15 and 16. The SCO includes key countries like India, China, Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The summit will bring together leaders from these member states to discuss important regional matters and strengthen cooperation in security, trade, and cultural exchange.
The government has already deployed army troops in Islamabad to maintain peace and security ahead of the summit.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction with the preparations for the event. He emphasized that the arrangements should meet high standards and showcase Pakistan’s hospitality at its best.
