Pakistan working for safe return of citizens held by Israel
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Sunday that it is actively coordinating with international partners to secure the release and safe return of its citizens detained by Israeli forces from the Global Sumud Flotilla.
In an official statement, the ministry said that, through diplomatic channels of a friendly European country, it has been verified that former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad is in Israeli custody but remains safe and in good health.
The ministry added that Senator Mushtaq will be presented before a court in line with local legal procedures. Once deportation orders are issued, his repatriation will be carried out on a fast-track basis.
Pakistan’s foreign office also confirmed that it had earlier facilitated the safe return of other citizens who were disembarked from the flotilla and expressed deep gratitude to the friendly nations that supported these efforts.
“The Government of Pakistan remains fully committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all its citizens abroad and expects the repatriation process to be completed in the coming days,” the statement concluded.
