Pakistan Plans Crackdown on Social Media with New Firewalls

Islamabad: Pakistan’s federal government is set to crack down on negative social media propaganda by implementing strict measures. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) invites bids to install advanced firewalls for better internet security.

The PTA is seeking bids from internet service providers to set up next-generation and application firewalls. These new firewalls will include Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), which allows data to be checked thoroughly.

These firewalls offer real-time data monitoring, URL filtering, application control, and malware protection. They will help monitor and filter web application data and defend against cybersecurity threats.

The government aims to boost cybersecurity and control online negativity with these measures, highlighting its commitment to a secure digital environment.
