The Pakistan Flour Mills Association, led by Central Chairman Asim Raza Ahmed and Tax Committee Chairman Farrukh Shahzad, met with a high-level committee in Islamabad today. The committee was formed on Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s directive.
Committee members included Minister of State for Finance Ali Pervaiz, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, and FBR Chairman Amjad Zubair Tiwana.
The Flour Mills Association delegation discussed the ongoing strike, the imposition of withholding tax, and its impact on the industry and the public. The committee listened to their concerns and agreed to work together to find a solution.
The committee assured the delegation that a positive resolution would be reached by July 22, 2024. Due to this assurance and respect for Muharram ul Haram, the Flour Mills Association postponed the nationwide strike until July 22, 2024.
Starting tomorrow, Sunday, the flour milling industry will resume normal operations nationwide, ensuring the supply of wheat products to the market.
The Pakistan Flour Mills Association thanked Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the committee members, the Chief Minister of Punjab, and the Minister of Food Punjab for their cooperation.
