Pakistan has dropped to the bottom of the World Test Championship 2023-25 rankings after losing to England by an innings and 45 runs in the first Test at Multan Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan is now ranked ninth—the last position on the table—having won only two games and lost six out of the eight they played under Shan Masood’s leadership.
The team has just 16 points, with eight points deducted due to slow overrate penalties, as per ICC rules. In the Championship, a win earns 12 points, six points for a tie, and four points for a draw.
The top two teams will qualify for the final at Lord’s in 2025. India holds the top spot, followed by Australia in second place.
With Pakistan’s sixth consecutive red-ball loss, their chances of making it to the final at Lord’s are slim. Pakistan faces another challenge, with two more Tests against England, the second of which starts on October 15 in Multan.
