Pakistan Dominate England by 79 Runs in Legends Championship

Pakistan defeated England by 79 runs in the 10th World Championship of Legends 2024 match at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham, UK.

The Men in Green remain unbeaten, marking their fourth victory in the competition, with previous wins over Australia, West Indies, and India.
Pakistan scored 196/4 after being asked to bat first by England.

Despite the early losses of Kamran Akmal (11) and Sharjeel Khan (13), a 121-run partnership between Sohaib Maqsood and Shoaib Malik set a solid foundation. Maqsood scored 44 runs off 34 balls, and Malik scored 33 runs off 25. The team captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, added 14 runs off 9 balls, while Abdul Razzaq contributed 9 runs off 7 balls.

England’s Meaker was the standout bowler, finishing with figures of 2/25. Pakistan successfully defended their 197-run target by dismissing England captain Kevin Pietersen early.

Phil Mustard tried to keep England in the game, but Yasir Arafat ran out Ian Bell (11), and Mustard (34) fell while attempting to accelerate. Kevin O’Brien (24) was clean-bowled by Shoaib Malik.

No other England batters could make significant contributions, as Pakistan took wickets regularly, bowling England out for 117.

Saeed Ajmal claimed three wickets, while Abdul Razzaq took two. Shoaib Malik, Sohail Khan, and Aamer Yamin each took one wicket.

The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals. Pakistan holds the top spot on the points table with 8 points, followed by Australia and India with 4 points. England is fourth with 2 points.
