Rawalpindi: The funeral prayers for twelve Pakistan Army soldiers, who embraced martyrdom while defending the country during an unprovoked attack by the Afghan regime, were held at Chaklala Garrison on Saturday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the attack occurred on the night of October 11 and 12, when Afghan Taliban and allied terrorist groups launched a cross-border assault on Pakistani posts.
The funeral was attended by Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, federal ministers, the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, senior civil and military officials, and members of the public.
During the ceremony, the Defence Minister paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, saying that Pakistan’s people are forever indebted to the heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect the nation’s sovereignty from the cowardly aggression of the Taliban regime and Indian-backed terrorist proxies.
He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces, with the full support of the nation, are determined to counter any aggression or conspiracy against the country.
Earlier, ISPR reported that Pakistani forces had repelled the Taliban assault, killing over 200 terrorists and capturing multiple posts along the border. The military conducted precision strikes on Taliban camps, training centers, and terror networks inside Afghan territory, while taking strict measures to avoid civilian harm.
The incident marks one of the most intense clashes in recent years, as Pakistan continues to defend its borders against cross-border terrorism.
