The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has rejected reports of a fuel shortage in Pakistan, confirming that petroleum supply operations remain normal across the country.
In an official statement, an OGRA spokesperson clarified that earlier delays in clearing imported petroleum products had been resolved. The spokesperson added that Pakistan State Oil’s (PSO) diesel vessel and WAFI’s petrol shipment have now been cleared, ensuring uninterrupted nationwide fuel supply.
“Fuel supply operations across Pakistan are running smoothly, and business continues as usual,” the statement said.
The clarification came after reports claimed that the Sindh government’s reintroduction of a 100% bank guarantee under the Sindh Infrastructure Development Cess (IDC) had delayed several petroleum cargoes at Karachi ports, raising concerns about possible shortages.
In a letter to the Sindh chief minister and federal authorities, the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) had stated that five shipments carrying petrol and diesel for PSO, HPL, PGL, and PARCO were awaiting customs clearance.
However, OGRA assured the public that no disruption exists in domestic fuel distribution and confirmed that the authority is closely monitoring supply chains to prevent any potential shortfall.
