In Rajanpur, the notorious dacoit Shahid Lund was killed during a joint operation by the Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur police on Friday.
A Punjab police spokesperson confirmed that the operation, aimed at high-profile criminals, took place in the Kacha area of Bangla Achha. Shahid Lund died in a shootout with police, marking the end of a long pursuit.
The Punjab government had previously placed a Rs10 million bounty on Lund due to his extensive criminal record. Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, praised the successful operation as a major step toward eliminating crime and terrorism in the region. “Our primary goal is to rid the Kacha areas of terrorists, dacoits, and miscreants,” he stated.
Lund had over 28 major charges, including police killings, terrorism, kidnappings, attacks on law enforcement, murder, and armed robbery, with multiple cases filed in Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur.
Lund was also known for mocking police on social media. In a viral video from August, he claimed his place at the top of the most-wanted list, questioning the accuracy of the reward list while openly taunting the authorities.
