Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Noman Ali has achieved a career milestone, climbing to second place in the ICC Test bowling rankings after an impressive performance in the first Test against South Africa.
The 37-year-old veteran gained four spots, earning 853 rating points, and is now closing in on India’s Jasprit Bumrah, who continues to hold the top position. Noman’s remarkable form helped him surpass South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada, who dropped to fifth in the updated rankings.
New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy currently sits in third place, completing the top three Test bowlers in the world.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Afridi also made gains, moving up three places to 19th with 661 points. Spinner Sajid Khan retained his 21st spot, while Mohammad Abbas and Naseem Shah stayed firm at 27th and 34th, respectively.
Hasan Ali maintained his 42nd position, alongside Abrar Ahmed, who remains 48th. However, Khurram Shahzad slipped two places to 66th, and Aamer Jamal fell three spots to 74th.
Further down the list, Mir Hamza dropped four places to 95th, Salman Agha slipped one spot to 96th, and Zahid Mahmood went down three positions to 100th.
Noman Ali’s latest achievement highlights his consistent performances and cements his reputation as one of Pakistan’s most reliable spinners in Test cricket.
