Aliya Fakhri, sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested for allegedly setting her ex-boyfriend’s house on fire in Jamaica, Queens, New York. The incident resulted in the tragic deaths of two people.
According to the Queens District Attorney’s office, Aliya faces charges, including first-degree murder. A report by Indian Express on Tuesday confirmed her indictment.
The victims, Edward Jacobs (35), Aliya’s ex-boyfriend, and Anastasia Ettienne (33), died from smoke inhalation and burns after being trapped in the burning house. Witnesses revealed that before the fire, Aliya reportedly shouted, “You’re all going to die today.” The fire started in a detached garage at Jacobs’ residence, leaving the victims with no way to escape.
Aliya, 43, now faces four counts of first-degree murder and other charges. If convicted, she could face life imprisonment. Her next court hearing is scheduled for December 9.
Reports suggest that Aliya continued to pursue Jacobs even after their breakup, despite his efforts to end the relationship. Jacobs’ mother stated that he had been trying to distance himself from Aliya for over a year.
Meanwhile, Nargis Fakhri’s mother has denied the allegations, expressing disbelief that Aliya could commit such a crime.
