Wahab Riaz, the senior team manager of the national cricket team, along with T20 captain Babar Azam, has taken legal action against anchor Mubasher Lucman for making serious match-fixing allegations against them.
Riaz, a former fast bowler, issued a defamation notice amounting to Rs500 million against Lucman, accusing him of making unfounded accusations.
The controversy began after Lucman posted a contentious video on social media following Pakistan’s early exit from the ICC Men’s World Cup 2024. In the video, Lucman implicated Wahab Riaz and his deceased father in match-fixing, suggesting that Riaz’s father used to arrange match outcomes in advance.
Lucman also questioned Babar Azam’s brother’s source of income, who reportedly gifted a lavish vehicle to Babar Azam. This led to legal action from Sayaa Corporation, represented by Azhar Mehmood, who sent a separate legal notice to Lucman.
Wahab Riaz strongly criticized Lucman for making these allegations without substantiated evidence, emphasizing the damage caused to their reputations and careers. The legal notices serve as a firm response to defend their integrity and seek redress for the harmful accusations made against them.
