On Tuesday, a physical fight broke out between the government and opposition members in the KP Assembly.
The conflict began when the opposition protested the decision to allow Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to speak during the session.
Opposition MPs were frustrated because they were not allowed to share their views. The tension escalated when a dispute arose between Ali Wazir and Naik Muhammad.
Supporters of Nek Muhammad, sitting in the gallery, allegedly hurled abusive remarks at Wazir and made threats. This provoked Wazir’s supporters, leading to a physical clash between the two sides inside the assembly.
Even though the assembly sergeant and security staff tried to restore order, the situation quickly got out of hand.
Tensions also rose between the treasury and the opposition when ANP lawmaker Nisar Baaz expressed anger at not being given time to speak.
He questioned, “Why aren’t we allowed to speak?” Other lawmakers attempted to calm him down and assured him he would get his turn to address the assembly.
