Pakistani mountaineer Murad Sadpara passed away on Monday after an accident on Broad Peak occurred Sunday morning.
Sadpara was injured during his climb on the 8,047-meter-high Broad Peak in Skardu. President of the Alpine Club, Ayaz Shigri, confirmed his death.
Sadpara was waiting for rescuers after suffering a severe head injury at Camp 1 when a stone struck him.
The Pakistan Army deployed four expert mountaineers to the base camp to assist in the rescue. Mirza Sadpara had recently completed his second successful summit of Nanga Parbat.
Shigri mentioned that the four rescuers would attempt to bring Murad Sadpara’s body back to the base camp.
Pakistani climber Naila Kiani had appealed on social media for the Pakistan Army to send a team from Skardu to the Broad Peak crampon point to retrieve Ali Sadpara safely.
Sadpara had successfully summited Nanga Parbat twice before.
