Monal Restaurant Owner’s Emotional Farewell to 700 Employees

The owner of Monal Restaurant in Islamabad, Luqman Ali Afzal, has written a heartfelt farewell notice to his 700 employees, announcing the restaurant’s closure following a directive from the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The letter quickly gained attention on Facebook and expressed Afzal’s deep sorrow over the decision.

Due to the court’s ruling, Afzal informed his employees that Monal Restaurant would close on September 11, 2024. “It is not easy for me to say goodbye after 18 years together; it feels like a father parting from his children,” he wrote.

In the Urdu letter, Afzal acknowledged the challenges of unemployment and the difficulties his employees face. He explained that there was no alternative after the court’s decision. “I wish I could provide jobs for everyone overnight, but the group can’t reassign you to other projects due to the current financial crisis. Please see this as a decision by divine will and start looking for new employment,” he added.

He also asked his employees to collect all their dues before the deadline.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the shutdown of all restaurants within Margalla National Park. Including Monal and La-Montana, to protect the park’s biodiversity. The court has given these establishments three months to cease operations and be removed. This decision aims to minimize human impact and preserve the area’s ecological balance.

Following the Supreme Court’s directive, Monal Restaurant was informed on social media that it would permanently close on September 11, 2024.
