Mohsin Naqvi Hands Over Cricket Affairs to Waqar Younis

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has decided to hand over the management of cricket affairs to former captain Waqar Younis.

Sources say Chairman Naqvi will focus more on the board’s administrative tasks. While a seasoned cricketer will now handle all cricket-related decisions.

In line with Naqvi’s vision, a cricketer will be responsible for various aspects of the sport, including international and domestic cricket, the selection committee, and issuing NOCs for players. This move highlights the importance of involving experienced cricketers in the sport’s management and decision-making processes.

Sources have revealed that Naqvi primarily focuses on managing the upcoming Champions Trophy. Waqar Younis will be given a key role in the PCB, overseeing all men’s cricket matters as part of this plan.

Under the PCB Constitution of 2014, the Chairman can delegate his powers. Naqvi has used this authority to assign Waqar Younis a comprehensive role.

Younis will manage the national team’s affairs. Including overseeing the National Selection Committee and the white-ball and red-ball cricket coaching staff.

Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s decision reflects a broader strategy to involve experienced cricketers in critical aspects of the sport. Ensuring their expertise and insights contribute to the development and success of Pakistani cricket.
