Sindh Inspector General (IG) of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon confirmed that the medical report of Natasha Danish, the driver involved in last week’s fatal Karachi accident. Shows she was under the influence of crystal meth (methamphetamine).
On August 19, driving a speeding Toyota Land Cruiser, Natasha Danish collided with three motorcycles and another car on Karsaz Road in Karachi before her vehicle overturned. The crash claimed the lives of 60-year-old Imran Arif and his 22-year-old daughter Amna, while three others were injured.
Danish was arrested and charged with manslaughter. During a court hearing on August 21, the victim’s counsel requested an investigation into the drug that Danish was allegedly on during the crash. The court subsequently placed Danish on a 14-day judicial remand.
IG Memon stated that the driver’s blood test results would soon be available. And additional charges could be added to the first information report (FIR) based on the medical findings.
Speaking to Dawn.com, IG Memon confirmed that the Sindh Government Services Hospital issued the medical report. Which verified that Danish was under the influence of crystal meth at the time of the accident. The report, however, has not been made public yet.
Earlier, Karachi Additional IG (AIG) Javed Odho mentioned that the medical report. Contained findings indicating that Danish should not have been driving at high speed. While he didn’t elaborate, Odho noted that investigators would seek opinions from medical experts before concluding.
The FIR Details: The FIR, filed at Bahadurabad police station by Imtiaz Arif. Whose brother and niece died in the accident, includes charges of negligent driving leading to death and injury. Imtiaz Arif was informed around 6:45 pm. On the day of the accident that his brother Imran Arif and niece Amna had been hit by a Toyota Land Cruiser from behind while riding a motorcycle. Both sustained severe injuries and later died.
