The Karachi Board of Secondary Education has announced the 2024 Matric Science exam results. A government school secured the top position for the first time in 28 years. The last time this happened was in 1996 when Delhi Government Boys School claimed the top spot.
This year, Hafiz Abdul Rafay Tariq, a Delhi Government Boys Secondary School student in Karimabad, took first place. Abdul Rafay, the son of Tariq Mahboob, a mathematics teacher, scored 1,040 out of 1,100 marks, achieving a percentage of 94.55%.
The second and third positions were for students from private schools. Rumaissa Imran from Al-Khalil Model School in Malir earned second place with 1,037 marks (94.27%), and Rukhsar from Little Folks School in North Nazimabad took third place with 1,025 marks (93.18%).
Out of 163,012 registered candidates, 162,026 appeared for the exams. Of those, 131,614 passed, resulting in % pass rate of 81.24%. A breakdown of the results shows that 23,943 students received an A-1 grade, 45,357 got an A grade, 37,595 secured a B grade, 20,837 received a C grade, 4,031 received a D grade, and 25 received an E grade.
Among the participants, 76,831 were female and 85,195 were male. Of them, 63,767 females and 67,847 males passed. In the A-1 grade category, 15,616 were females and 8,327 were males, while 23,357 females and 22,000 males achieved an A.
