All schools in Punjab will remain closed from Wednesday, November 13, until November 17 due to the worsening smog situation.
The Punjab Education Board issued a notification stating that, due to poor air quality and low visibility, all public and private educational institutions, including tuition centers up to 12th grade, will be closed during this period. Classes will be held online.
Previously, the Punjab government had announced the closure of schools in five divisions: Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Sahiwal.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized that the decision aims to protect children from the harmful effects of toxic air.
Yesterday, Lahore topped the list of the most polluted cities in the world, with many other cities in Punjab also ranking high on the Air Quality Index (AQI).
