    Pakistani actress Mahira Khan received an honor in the UK Parliament for her remarkable contributions to cinema, culture, and women’s empowerment.

    British MP Afzal Khan hosted the award ceremony at the House of Commons, recognizing Mahira’s impact on global cinema and her role as a cultural ambassador. Parliamentarians from various parties praised her influence on cultural exchange and women’s empowerment.

    At the event, MP Afzal Khan applauded Mahira’s talent and grace, calling her an inspiration for women worldwide. He highlighted her ability to bring powerful stories to life and captivate audiences, promoting cultural understanding.

    Dr. Sarah Naeem also acknowledged Mahira’s dedication to women’s empowerment, stating, “Mahira Khan has inspired women not just in Pakistan but globally, showing them how to pursue their dreams with determination.” She noted that Mahira is the first Pakistani actress honored in the British Parliament, a tribute supported by MP Afzal Khan, the Labor Asians Society, and Samara Events UK.

    Mahira reflected on her journey, expressing gratitude for the people who supported her. She shared memories of growing up in a Pashtun family in Karachi, studying at Foundation Public School, then at Santa Monica College and the University of Southern California in the US. She credited her parents for instilling values of equality and education in her and her siblings.

    In her message, Mahira thanked mentors, directors, friends, and family, saying, “My parents believed in equal education. I’ve been inspired and encouraged through tough times, celebrated in my successes, and have stood on the shoulders of mentors, fans, and friends who made everything possible.”
