Kookaburra Cricket Balls to Be Used for All ICC Matches

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed using Kookaburra cricket balls for all ICC matches in Pakistan during the 2024-25 cricket season. This decision ensures consistency with international standards and enhances the quality of play in home conditions.

As the domestic cricket season approaches. The PCB has outlined its plans for the types of cricket balls to be used. For all senior red-ball domestic events, Duke balls will be the choice. These balls have been custom-made to suit local pitches, following an in-depth analysis of ground and pitch conditions nationwide.

The PCB will use local brands Aceline and Grays for grassroots and pathways cricket, including U15, U17, and U19 tournaments, as well as school, university, club, and inter-district competitions. This decision aims to cater to the specific needs of young players and align with domestic playing conditions.

In domestic 50-over and T20 competitions, Kookaburra balls will continue to be used. This maintains consistency with international white-ball cricket, where Kookaburra is the standard, including in ICC events.
The PCB has chosen Kookaburra balls for the upcoming seven ICC World Test Championship fixtures in Pakistan. Which include Tests against Bangladesh, England, and the West Indies. Under the ICC World Test Championship rules, the home board can decide the brand of cricket balls used.

With Tony Hemming now appointed Chief Curator, the PCB is confident that the pitches will be well-prepared to suit the various cricket balls throughout the season. Hemming will collaborate with relevant departments to ensure that pitches enhance the quality of play and maintain a competitive balance between bat and ball.

Beyond pitch preparations, Hemming will also focus on training and coaching local curators. These curators will work on developing consistent playing surfaces across different regions and districts. Ensuring uniformity in playing conditions throughout the country.
