Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has filed a complaint with London authorities after being harassed and threatened with a knife during a train journey on Monday.
London Transport Police confirmed they are investigating the incident, as reported by state media on Thursday.
The incident occurred on the Elizabeth Line around 3:30 pm. A group of three to four individuals approached Asif while he was traveling to Reading.
According to Asif, the group recorded him without his permission, used offensive language, and made threats involving a knife. He added that he did not know any of the individuals involved.
Asif, in London for personal reasons, reported the incident to the police. He also requested that London Transport Police review CCTV footage from the train to help identify the suspects.
He described the harassment as both personally upsetting and an embarrassment for the 1.7 million British-Pakistanis living in the UK.
The minister expressed regret over the incident, calling it disgraceful. He said it reflects a troubling pattern of harassment faced by Pakistani officials and politicians in the UK.
A similar case occurred last month when PTI supporters targeted former Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa’s vehicle in London.
