On Monday, a Karachi court rejected the bail application of Natasha Danish, who is implicated in a drug-related case linked to a fatal accident on Karsaz Road. The decision comes despite a financial settlement reached between Natasha’s family and the families of the victims.
The magistrate had previously reserved judgment on Natasha’s bail request on September 6. The bail was denied after revelations that Natasha’s family had paid over 50 million rupees to the family of Amina, a victim of the accident, and offered a job to one of her family members. Additional compensation was also provided to other injured parties by Islamic law.
The court also declared Natasha’s British driving license inadmissible in the ongoing legal proceedings. The crash, which happened on August 19, involved Natasha driving at high speed, losing control of her vehicle, and striking pedestrians. The accident resulted in the deaths of Imran Arif and his daughter Amna and injured four others. Natasha was arrested soon after the accident.
The public and media scrutiny is intense, with widespread calls for a stringent legal response to Natasha’s actions. There are also concerns over potential leniency due to her affluent background.
