Islamabad Bans Vuvuzelas Ahead of Independence Day

Islamabad has banned the sale, purchase, and use of vuvuzelas (Bajas) for ten days before Independence Day.

The Islamabad Capital Territory administration issued a notification on August 8, stating that these horns and whistles could disrupt public peace and create a nuisance. To enforce this, the district commissioner has directed assistant commissioners to seize any stalls selling these items.

Additionally, the district commissioner warned that anyone caught using or selling firecrackers will face legal action. He stressed the need to ensure public safety during the Independence Day celebrations.
While stalls selling vuvuzelas are standard before Independence Day, there are concerns about noise pollution and safety, especially for children.
