India claimed the T20 World Cup title on Saturday after an unbeaten run, defeating South Africa in the final at Kensington Oval.
South Africa’s innings started poorly with early losses. Jasprit Bumrah bowled Reeza Hendricks in the second over, and Aiden Markram was caught behind off Arshdeep Singh in the third over.
Despite the setbacks, Quinton de Kock and Tristan Stubbs formed a crucial partnership, adding 58 runs off 38 balls. Stubbs, who scored 31, was bowled by Axar Patel in the ninth over, bringing Heinrich Klaasen to the crease.
De Kock’s dismissal for 39 put pressure on South Africa, but Klaasen responded with a strong performance, scoring 52. His departure dealt a significant blow to the team. David Miller attempted to keep the momentum going, but Hardik Pandya’s effective bowling dismantled the tail-end, securing India’s victory.
Earlier in the match, Virat Kohli delivered an outstanding performance, helping India set a formidable target of 177 runs for South Africa.
