An anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted bail to Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan, on Friday. They are set to be released today after submitting surety bonds.
ATC Judge Abual Hasnaat Zulqarnain presided over the hearing and, after considering both sides’ arguments, approved bail for Aleema and Uzma with bonds of Rs20,000 each.
The two sisters were arrested on October 4 from Islamabad’s Red Zone, accused of inciting a mob to attack police and state institutions. They were sent to District Jail Jhelum on October 12 following an eight-day custody by Islamabad police.
Their bail hearing was initially scheduled for October 19 but delayed as both ATC judges, Abual Hasnaat Zulqarnain and Tahir Abbas Sipra, were on leave. Admin Judge Raja Jawad Abbas presided but informed the sisters’ legal team that he couldn’t rule on the bail request.
