Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister, has formed a negotiation committee from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. The committee, made up of senior PTI leaders, will engage in talks with the government.
According to Pak Observer, Imran Khan has appointed former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, ex-Minister Omar Ayub Khan, Akram Raja, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and Hamid Raza as members of the committee.
During a press conference, PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan shared that he met Imran Khan on December 5 for an extended discussion but was re-arrested despite securing bail. Imran instructed PTI members to hold a prayer and Jirga session on December 13 in Peshawar, inviting all political parties to join the event.
Omar Ayub also announced that PTI’s international chapters would organize events on December 15. The committee’s main focus is to secure the release of detained PTI workers.
Issuing a warning to the government, Omar Ayub said that if PTI’s demands are ignored, the party could consider civil disobedience, which might have serious national and international consequences.
Addressing the media, Asad Qaiser condemned the treatment of PTI workers, who he claimed were being portrayed as terrorists in courts.
