Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has halted the return of former members who left the party until he is released from prison. Sources told GRY News.

After the violent protests on May 9, 2023, many PTI leaders announced their departure from the party as a crackdown began against them for their inflammatory speeches and attacks on state installations.

A few months later, as the February 8 elections approached, reports suggested that some deserters wanted to rejoin PTI. However, the party leadership firmly refused to take anyone back.

Following the former prime minister’s orders, a seven-member committee has been established to decide the fate of these leaders’ return, sources added.

According to sources, this committee, led by PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, includes Asad Qaiser, Hamid Khan, Shehryar Afridi, Barrister Gohar, and Shibli Faraz.

The committee will submit a list of final names to the PTI founder. Who will make the ultimate decision, sources said.

Additionally, they added that Shandana Gulzar will report on the cases of PTI women and the reasons behind the leaders quitting the party.
