Heavy Rains Hit Sindh, Causing Power Outages and Flooding

Parts of Sindh experienced heavy rain overnight, including areas like Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, and Bhit Shah. The rain was accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms on Friday night.

The downpour disrupted traffic flow and caused electricity breakdowns in many parts of the province. Rainwater entered houses in low-lying areas, submerging roads and further disrupting traffic.

In Hyderabad, 130 feeders tripped, plunging much of the city into darkness with the first drop of rain.

Earlier this week, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted rains across the country from July 16 to 21, noting that moderate monsoon currents are likely to penetrate from the Arabian Sea.
The Met Office predicted that all four provinces, as well as regions of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB), will experience new spells of rain, wind, and thundershowers under the influence of this weather system.
