Govt Lowers Petrol Price by Rs1.86 per Litre; Diesel Drops by Rs3.32

The federal government, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s approval, has reduced petrol prices by Rs1.86 per litre, effective September 1.

The new petrol price is Rs259.10 per litre, down from Rs260.96 per litre. High-speed diesel (HSD) prices have also decreased by Rs3.32, bringing the price to Rs262.75 per litre from Rs266.07 per litre.

Additionally, kerosene oil prices have been cut by Rs2.15 to Rs169.62 per litre, and light diesel oil is now Rs154.05 per litre after a Rs2.97 reduction.
This marks the third consecutive reduction in fuel prices, with a total decrease of Rs16.5 per litre in petrol prices since July 30.

Petrol, commonly used in private vehicles and two-wheelers, significantly impacts the budget of the middle and lower-middle classes. Due to its widespread use, high-speed diesel, essential for heavy transport vehicles and agricultural machinery, influences the cost of food items and vegetables.
