Google has launched the “AI Academy” in Pakistan to boost the development of AI startups. The company aims to position the country as a leading hub for artificial intelligence in the Asia Pacific region. This initiative is part of Google’s broader mission to support emerging and diverse startup communities globally.
The AI Academy, which builds on the Google Chrome Book Initiative, collaborates with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to foster international partnerships in Pakistan. The program plans to support over 20 startups, guiding them in creating various AI-driven products with the help of global experts.
As part of the support, Google will provide up to $350,000 in cloud credits to fund these startups. Farhan S. Qureshi, Google’s Country Director for Pakistan, emphasized that this program reflects Google’s commitment to advancing AI development throughout the Asia Pacific.
This initiative is expected to enhance Pakistan’s role as a “global center” for AI development in the region, potentially strengthening its IT sector and overall economy.
