Former army chief General (r) Qamar Javed Bajwa has denied claims made by Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI chairman Imran Khan, regarding calls he allegedly received after Imran Khan’s visit to Medina.
“I have received no such calls,” Bajwa clarified in a phone conversation with senior journalist Muhammad Malick. He stated that no one contacted him following the PTI founder’s return from Saudi Arabia.
Bushra Bibi, in a video message, shared an incident where she claimed, “After Imran Khan returned from Medina barefoot after performing Umrah, General Bajwa received a call. The caller reportedly said, ‘Who have you brought with you? We want to end the Sharia system in Pakistan, and you have brought in those advocating for Sharia.’”
Regarding allegations of inciting violence with the controversial slogan “al-Jihad al-Jihad,” Bushra Bibi denied any involvement from PTI’s leadership. She explained that the slogans emerged from public sentiment, not party instructions.
She also rejected reports claiming that PTI leaders had considered delaying their November 24 protest in exchange for assurances, calling these “baseless propaganda.” She reiterated, “The protest will take place as planned.”
PTI chairman Imran Khan has urged supporters to march toward Islamabad on Sunday, demanding the “restoration of democracy and judiciary.” Bushra Bibi emphasized that PTI’s plans remain firm, despite efforts to discourage them.
