KARACHI, July 21, 2025 — At least 34 people were injured in a powerful explosion at a fireworks warehouse in Karachi yesterday. The blast ignited fires in the facility and nearby shops, triggered additional smaller explosions, and sent residents fleeing in panic. Smoke engulfed the area, while shards of glass injured passersby and motorists turned back in chaos. Four of the injured remain in critical condition, according to city police officer Summaiya Tariq.
The incident added to Karachi’s mounting challenges amid severe monsoon rains that hit the city just a day earlier—compounding the strain on emergency services and public safety measures.
