After Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi took oath on October 15, a viral photo from his first meeting with senior officials sparked controversy online. Social media users claimed he removed Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s portrait from his office and replaced it with one of former prime minister Imran Khan.
However, the claim is false. Jinnah’s portrait remains in the chief minister’s office.
A post by X (formerly Twitter) user Saif Awan alleged that Afridi replaced the national founder’s image with Imran Khan’s. The post gained over 132,000 views and hundreds of reposts. Punjab Information Minister Azma Zahid Bokhari also echoed the claim.
But photos from multiple angles shared by KP CM’s Press Secretary Zar Wali show that Quaid-i-Azam’s portrait is still on Afridi’s right, while Imran Khan’s picture hangs on the opposite wall.
The viral photo had been cropped to exclude Jinnah’s portrait, creating a misleading impression. Official images confirm that the portrait of Pakistan’s founder remains intact in the CM’s office.
