India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, is making headlines again with extravagant wedding celebrations for his youngest son, Anant Ambani, and his longtime girlfriend, Radhika Merchant.
The wedding invitation cards alone cost a staggering INR 6-7 lacs (approximately $8,000-USD 9,000), according to Indian media reports. This amount is a whopping 366 per cent more than the cost of his elder brother Akash Ambani’s wedding cards.
These invitations are not just simple cards; they are luxurious items. Each guest also receives a shawl worth INR 10,000-12,000 and other valuable gifts, including gold.
The wedding festivities began with an intimate puja ceremony at the Ambani residence on June 29. On July 2, the Ambanis organized a mass wedding for over 50 underprivileged couples from Maharashtra’s Palghar.
On July 6, a sangeet ceremony featured a performance by pop sensation Justin Bieber, for which Mukesh Ambani reportedly paid a staggering $10 million (approximately INR 83 crore).
This is not the Ambani family’s first time in the news for their extravagant spending. In March, they hosted a three-day party with 1,200 guests, including former world leaders, tech leaders, Bollywood stars, and even singer Rihanna.
The Ambani family took guests on a three-day cruise trip from Italy to France in May.
Anant and Radhika got engaged on January 19, 2023, and they are set to tie the knot on July 12 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
